 Documents Overview
Any documents that relate the Project or Business will be stored in the documents module. Participants of the project are able to add, modify, check out, check in, and delete documents if they have the necessary permissions. There is no limit to the size or type of document that can be stored in this module.
 Document Vault in Project.net
Project.net offers a full-featured document management system. There is no limit to the size or type of document that can be stored. The documents module provides version control, access history, hierarchical folder structure, and more.
What are the types of documents that can be added to the Document Vault?
Types of documents include:
- CAD files (DGN, DWG, and DXF formats)
- Bid Documents
- Requests for Quote (RFQ)
- Requests for Information (RFI)
- Scanned Drawings
- Other images that can be quickly added to a project.
- Audio and Video
Once entered, any document is incorporated into the Project.net version control system for check out/check in.
All Project related documents are imported and stored in the Document module of the Projects or Business to which they belong. They can be grouped under separate folders maintaining the version status, author, size and the last modified date and time of the Document or Folder.
How can I setup a Project's Document Vault?
Documents relating to a Project can be added to the respective Projects document vault by choosing the Document Module of that project. Documents can be added to this vault, by choosing the Import Document option under Toolbox in this page. New Folders can be created and documents grouped umder these folders.

Check in and Check out a Document
If any Team member intends to modify a document already added to the Document Vault, this is possible with the Check out feature. Once any document is checked out by any of the team members, the document will be available in the Read-only mode to the other team members until the document is Checked in. Project.net provides version control for any document which is incorporated to Check out or Check in action.
Undo Check out feature cancels all changes made to the document and releases the lock for that document. This way, the changes to the document are not affected and no entry is added to the document history.
Every document checked out needs to be Checked in. If this is not done, the document will only be available in the read only mode for the other team members. Once document is checked in after check out, the newer versions of the document are created with the modifications.
